A professor emeritus in the Departments of Medicine and Engineering at Stanford University, he has led or participated in over 175 clinical trials, published over 650 manuscripts/chapters, been involved in the development of 24 different medical device companies, and serves as a longtime consultant to the US Food and Drug Administration.
