“If you want to be a primary physician [in the traditional practice model], you have to limit your time so that you see enough people in a day so that your employer will keep you on or so that you can pay your bills,” says Dr. Adam Rubinstein.
The limitations imposed in the traditional practice model pushed Dr. Rubinstein to find an alternative. After transitioning to concierge medicine with the help of Specialdocs Consultants, Dr. Rubinstein now has the time to spend with his patients again. He isn’t forced to provide only reactive care.
“Specialdocs shocked me,” says Dr. Rubinstein. “They said ‘Our main concern is that your patients get the care you can give them and that you’re happy.’ They were taking care of my patients first, then me and my family. So joining with Specialdocs was a natural decision because I can do those explanations without worrying that my livelihood or passion will be harmed.”
Revolutionary Journeys to Concierge Medicine is a video series, presented by Specialdocs Consultants, depicting the paths of several physicians who’ve transitioned from traditional practice to a concierge model practice.
In their own words, the physicians illustrate the continuing challenges of the traditional practice model and how they were able to make a successful transition to concierge medicine.
